European Commission President
Jean-Claude Juncker said Monday he has no intention of quitting
after Britain voted to leave the European Union last week.
"I already had this question last Thursday (the day of the
Brexit vote in the UK) and the answer was a two-letter word, the
first of which is 'N'," said EC spokesman Margaritis Schinas.
"The Commission did not ask for that referendum, and the
consequences will have to be borne by those who did ask for it".
Calls for Juncker to resign have come from eastern European
countries including the Czech Republic, whose Foreign Minister
Lubomir Zaoralek said today the EC chief is "not the right man
in the right place".
