Premier Matteo Renzi said Monday a
British referendum vote to leave the European Union means there
is "a strong need to give the European project legs and a heart
over the coming decades". "We know the EU is solid and strong -
it must show more solidarity and capable of looking to the
future," Renzi told a press conference after meeting with French
President Francois Hollande and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
Renzi also said if "Europe takes the opportunity to invest on
the points Angela cited, this will make the European family
stronger. Market dynamics take into account concern and
uncertainty - we need caution, common sense and balance," he
said. "There is no time to lose, but we are in a position to
face and fix any problems that could arise, in the credit world
and beyond".
