The Milan prosecutor's office on
Friday filed to dismiss a case against the city's new Mayor
Beppe Sala of the Democratic Party (PD) accused of failing to
declare ownership of property including a house in Switzerland,
prior to his election.
The State attorney's office filed to dismiss on the grounds
that the case did not concern a criminal offense.
The probe kicked off in April after city councilor Riccardo
De Corato, a member of the right-wing Brothers of Italy (FDL)
party, denounced that Sala had failed to declare properties in a
mandatory self-certification for civil servants, which he filed
in February 2015 when he was commissioner of Milan's Universal
Exposition.
Sala reportedly declared the properties- including the
Swiss home and a real estate firm in Romania - in his income tax
returns.
