The prosecutor's office of the
Lombardy Regional Audit Court said that fraud in
dentistry-sector tenders cost the region four million euros, and
on Thursday began seizing assets from public healthcare system
employees under investigation to cover revenue losses, ANSA
sources said.
The seizures are part of an investigation of former
Lombardy regional councillor Fabio Rizzi, who is being probed
for having allegedly steered the dentistry tenders.
Rizzi, of the rightwing populist Northern League party,
drafted Lombardy's healthcare reform bill, which became law last
year.
