The October referendum on the
government's Constitutional reform to turn the Senate into a
smaller regional body with limited powers is "the last call for
the country", Reform Minister Maria Elena Boschi said Friday.
"If we were to miss this chance I don't know when another will
present itself," she said. Both Boschi and Premier Matteo Renzi
have staked their political futures on a Yes vote in the
referendum on a reform aimed at ending Italy's lawmaking
gridlock.
