Democratic Party (PD) Rome mayoral
candidate Roberto Giachetti said Tuesday he feels sorry for his
center-right opponent Alfio Marchini, because he will have to
change all his campaign posters since Silvio Berlusconi's Forza
Italia (FI) party decided to back him earlier in the day. Rome
is papered with Marchini posters saying the candidate is "free
from parties". "All my solidarity to Marchini," Giachetti told
Sky TG24 news. Marchini said his slogan meant the centre-right
should team up to "free Rome" from those who damaged it.
