(ANSAmed) - Luxembourg, April 21 - Italy's migration compact
on helping origin and transit countries has met with the
"consensus" not only of European Commission President
Jean-Claude Juncker but also "that of very many individual
governments who, represented by their interior ministers today,
said this approach as concrete, positive," Interior Minister
Angelino Alfano said Thursday. He said they had voiced the hope
it could be adopted by EU leaders. Alfano was speaking after an
EU interior ministers' meeting on migration. The new proposed
pact aims to give funds to countries in sub-Saharan Africa to
boost growth and create jobs to keep many potential emigrants
there.
