Renzi said Wednesday his reform drive won't be stopped by
dissent, even if it comes from within his own Democratic Party
(PD). "If certain politicians, including from my party, have
changed their minds about the reform and the referendum we'll
live with it," he said. "What they need to know for certain is
we're not stopping". He added "these reforms affect the number
of lawmakers and clearly part of the political establishment
doesn't want to change because there will be fewer (Senate)
seats". The reform will also reduce regional government powers
and regional council members' wages, he added. "The time of
getting things done is finally here after 30 years of chit
chat," he said.
