(ANSAmed) - Brussels, April 20 - Using Eurobonds to fund the
'migration compact' proposed by Italy to help sub-Saharan
countries is a "first conceptual idea about which we can talk in
the future," European Migration Commissioner Dimitris
Avramopoulos said Wednesday in the face of staunch German
opposition to the idea. He said he had read the compact
presented Friday by Premier Matteo Renzi "with attention like
everyone on the Commission and I can say that it is fully in
line with the EU's migration policy. It's a very responsible
approach to the problem". The compact aims to stem the flow of
migrants from countries of origin and transit.
