Interior Minister Angelino Alfano
on Wednesday cautioned against "unjustified scaremongering" over
a 6% increase in asylum seeker arrivals in Italy this year. "As
far as reception we are in a sustainable situation," Alfano
said. "We are dealing with the issue and scaremongering is
unjustified". He added that "we have some hopes for improvement
if we manage to get our plan approved in Europe and Libya gets
stabilized".
