A detention review court in
Potenza on Wednesday rejected appeals from five ENI workers
under house arrest since March 31 in a probe into suspected
graft and waste trafficking at Basilicata oil facilities. The
workers are employed by ENI's Centro Oli treatment plant at
Viggiano near Potenza. All appeals against a preliminary
investigations judge's detention orders were rejected. In the
probe, two government ministers have been questioned but are not
under investigation: former industry minister Federica Guidi,
who quit over an amendment favouring her oil-industry boyfriend,
and Reform Minister Maria Elena Boschi, who signed the amendment
in her other capacity as minister for relations with parliament.
