Beppe Grillo, co-founder and
leader of the anti-establishment 5-Star Movement (M5S), on
Wednesday attended a wake for M5S co-founder Gianroberto
Casaleggio, who died on Tuesday at age 61.
Casaleggio was in hospital at an Istituto Scientifico
Auxologico clinic and had had health problems for some time.
M5S leaders Carlo Sibilia, Carla Ruocco, Luigi Di Maio,
Alessandro Di Battista and Roberto Fico preceded Grillo at the
wake held at Milan's Istituto Auxologico, as did Milan mayoral
candidate Gianluca Corrado and former candidate Patrizia Bedori.
Nobel prize-winning writer Dario Fo, 90, said he was
"distraught beyond all measure" by the news of Casaleggio's
death and that he would speak at the funeral to be held
Thursday.
"I'll say something simple and easy, I still don't know
what," Fo said.
Fo denied speculation that Casaleggio's death would hinder
M5S's political progress.
"The Movement is going even further ahead, it's breathing
down the neck of the Democratic Party and perhaps will surpass
it," Fo said.
