Alfio Marchini, a former city
councillor running for Rome mayor on a civic list, said Monday
he is staying in the race.
"Withdrawing from the race is the farthest thing from my
mind," he said.
"I will present my program to (ex-premier Silvio)
Berlusconi and (rightwing candidate Giorgia) Meloni in the
coming days, because I have a duty to do so".
Marchini added that "a maximum of two candidates" will end
up running on center-right tickets.
"The Marchini list will be there, because Rome is in my
heart," he said.
