A meeting of Senate caucus whips
decided Wednesday that a no-confidence motion against the
government will be debated and voted on April 19.
The anti-establishment 5-Star Movement (M5S) yesterday filed
the no-confidence motion in the Senate over an oil probe that
has rocked Premier Matteo Renzi's executive.
"We want this government, a friend of oilmen and enemy of
the health of citizens and the environment, to go home," the M5S
said.
Prosecutors on Monday questioned Reforms and Relations with
Parliament Minister Maria Elena Boschi over a government
amendment on a southern Italian oil project that last week
spurred industry minister Federica Guidi to resign.
Renzi took up the post on an interim basis and said he
would appoint a successor as soon as possible.
Health police have begun probing the incidence of tumours
around the project in the southern Basilicata region.
