Premier Matteo Renzi said
procedures for the cleanup of a massive former steel works at
Bagnoli will be "transparent and constantly verifiable". The
tender will be Europe-wide and "the key word is transparency and
indisputable deadlines", the premier said. "With a hug to the
protesters, I say we will move this project forward with the
health of citizens as our prime concern," Renzi said. "A trial
is ongoing (and) we will ask prosecutors to be authorized to
clean up Bagnoli... We trust and are hopeful (the authorization)
will be given". The site has been impounded pending trial.
