Italy's three big trade union
confederations said that Premier Matteo Renzi's government had
"no more alibis" not to reach a deal on a new collective for
public after the agreement on reducing the number sections the
civil service is split into to four.
CGIL leader Susanna Camusso, CISL chief Annamaria Furlan
and UIL head Carmelo Barbagallo said the executive must open
negotiations "at once".
They also called on the government to allocate "more
resources," saying the the 300 million it set aside in the 2016
budget law for civil servant raises in the new collective
contracts was no enough.
Civil service contracts have not been renewed for six
years, which means public workers have been on a pay freeze.
In July 2015 the Constitutional Court said the failure to
renew the civil service labour contract was illegitimate.
