The centre-right candidate in Rome
elections Guido Bertolaso said Tuesday his one unifying aim is
to rid the city of debt and degradation and restore it to its
inhabitants, after coming fourth in unofficial primaries
organised by the Northern League over the weekend.
"Guido Bertolaso is a citizen with a history of commitment
and who has been called upon by politics because the situation
in Rome is unsustainable," said the former civil protection
chief fielded by ex premier and Forza Italia leader Silvio
Berlusconi and the leader of the small right-wing Brothers of
Italy, Giorgia Meloni, in an interview with affaritaliani.it.
"Berlusconi, Meloni and (Northern League leader Matteo)
Salvini represent a political commitment to restore the city to
its inhabitants and to the world, Bertolaso is the man who
should do it. Politics have their differences, my aim is single
and unifying," Bertolaso said.
