Populism is the greatest danger
to the EU and ideals must combat those who imagine walls and
frontiers, Premier Matteo Renzi said in his e-news Monday. "The
meeting with Angela Merkel was useful: together we reaffirmed
that the greatest danger to Europe are populism and
demagoguery," he said. "I personally continue to believe that
populism and demagoguery grow more strongly where there is
unemployment, where growth is lacking, where blind austerity
cancels prospects for development": He said "what today's Europe
is missing is the ideal dimension, the force of dreams, the
capacity to say no to those who imagine walls and frontiers".
