The number of Italian people in
work dropped by 63,000 (0.3%) in May with respect to April,
Istat said on Tuesday. However, the national statistics agency
added that the number of people in work was 60,000 higher than a
year ago. It said 55.9% of the working-age population had jobs,
down 0.1 of a percentage point on April, but up 0.3 of a
percentage point on a year ago. In May 2015 22.330 million
people were employed, while the unemployed were 3.157 million,
Istat said.
