The Italian Navy on Monday began an
operation to recover the bodies of some 700 migrants who drowned
in a boat that sank off the coast of Libya on April 18 in the
worst-ever single migrant disaster. Premier Matteo Renzi has
vowed to bring up the bodies and bury them to remind Europe of
the Mediterranean migrant emergency. Italy is seeking more aid
in migrant rescue efforts as well as more burden sharing on
quotas of asylum seekers, moving past the Dublin Regulation that
requires would-be refugees to sign on in arrival countries.
