Michelle Obama said she was happy
to be in Venice when she arrived for a visit on Friday, Veneto
Governor Luca Zaia said.
"Mrs Obama said she is happy to be here and I replied that
she's in the most beautiful city in the world and she said 'It's
true'," Zaia said after greeting the first lady, her daughters
and mother.
The prefect of Venice, Domenico Cuttaia, called Michelle
Obama "a very nice, friendly person".
Obama was to visit the nearby city of Vicenza during the
afternoon Friday to meet military personnel at the United
States' base there, as well as their families.
A discussion on the issues facing military families abroad
was scheduled.
Earlier in the week, Obama visited Milan Expo 2015 and the
US pavilion there.
