The Senate on Wednesday approved
the anti-corruption bill promoted by the government of Italian
Premier Matteo Renzi.
The bill passed with 165 yeas, 74 nays, and 13 abstentions.
The bill "cracks down on mafia crimes, (reinstates the
crime of) false accounting, and stiffens penalties for
civil-service corruption," Renzi said.
It now goes to the Lower House for review.
