The Senate on Thursday gave its
approval to the government's bill to enable citizens to get
redress for judges' actions in the event of blunders or
miscarriages of justice. The bill passes to the Lower House
after being approved in the Senate with 150 votes in favour, 51
against and 26 abstentions. The bill, a key plank in the
government's justice reform plans, would not require judges to
pay damages out of their own pockets, with the State footing the
bill.
