A proposal to remove ownership
requirements from a tax break on home purchases was among
amendments proposed to the government's Unblock Italy program in
the Lower House Tuesday.
The proposal from the maverick 5-Star Movement (M5S) would
see new home buyers keep the tax discount now allowed, but free
them from a requirement that they keep the property for at least
eight years.
The proposed amendment must now face technical reviews.
Other amendments before the Lower House environment
committee also deal with tax savings on building restorations,
and a plan to reduce the VAT to 4% from the current 10%.
That is also awaiting technical assessment.
