The opposition Left Ecology Freedom
(SEL) party Senate whip said Monday the small leftist party will
not withdraw any of its almost 6,000 amendments to a hotly
contested Constitutional reform bill.
"There are no negotiations, and our amendments are here to
stay," Senator Loredana De Petris said after meeting with her
SEL colleagues in the Upper House.
Asked whether SEL might negotiate with the government, De
Petris answered, "No one called us".
Proponents and opponents of Premier Matteo Renzi's reform
bill are regrouping after voting was suspended Thursday and
before it resumes Tuesday.
