Premier Matteo Renzi's centre-left Democratic Party (PD) is set to be Italy's top party in Sunday's European elections, according to an early exit poll. The poll by the EMG institute for La7 television gives the PD 33% of the votes cast in Italy, compared to 26.5% for comedian-turned-politician Beppe Grillo's anti-establishment 5-Star Movement (M5S) and 18% for ex-premier Silvio Berlusconi's opposition centre-right Forza Italia (FI).
