The Lazio regional
administrative court (TAR) has rejected an appeal filed by
Airbnb, which refused to implement a law on occupancy taxes for
short-term rentals, the Federalberghi hotel association said on
Monday.
The association said it has estimated that in the first 18
months since the tax was originally implemented the online
rental platform ''has omitted paying over 250 million euros''.
Under the occupancy tax for short-term rentals, real estate
intermediaries need to collect occupancy taxes due by owners and
provide tax data to the revenue agency.
