Singer-songwriter Gigi D'Alessio was
cleared of tax evasion on Tuesday, a Rome judge ruled.
Prosecutors had requested a four-year term for the 54-year-old
Neapolitan pop singer.
The case regarded a 2018 probe into alleged tax dodging
totalling some 1.7 million euros.
D'Alessio was accused of not declaring millions of euros of
income in 2010.
"I'm happy, the truth has come out," he said after the verdict.
"The truth has been established after 10 years," said his
lawyers.
D'Alessio, who lives in Rome with his partner the pop singer
Anna Tatangelo, for whom he has written several songs, has sold
over 20 million records.
