Gina Lollobrigida was
hospitalised after falling in her Rome home on Sunday, talk show
Domenica In host Mara Venier announced in explaining her failure
to turn up for an interview.
Lollobrigida, 91, was taken to Sant'Eugenio Hospital bleeding
from the nose, her aide Andrea Piazzolla told the programme.
"Before leaving the house I saw blood coming from her nose
and since I know she takes anticoagulants I decided to call her
doctor," he said.
"Now Gina is at the ER, the bleeding has been stopped and the
situation is under control.
"Everything's OK".
La Lollo, as she is known, was one of the highest profile
European actresses of the 1950s and early 1960s, a period in
which she was an international sex symbol.
Her films include Pane, Amore e Fantasia (1953), John
Huston's Beat The Devil (1953) with Humphrey Bogart, La Donna
Piu Bella del Mondo (1955), The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1956)
with Anthony Quinn, and Come September (1961) with Rock Hudson.
