The government's 'Art Bonus'
scheme for attracting private donations for the arts has now
garnered more than 100 million euros, Culture Minister Dario
Franceschini said Thursday. "More than 100 million in private
donations for culture! Success for #Artbonus", he tweeted.
The scheme offers tax breaks on art-related donations, allowing
for a 65% deduction on eligible donations. The scheme, launched
last year, has helped fund hundreds of cultural sector
projects and hundreds more are in the works. Lombardy in the
richer north of Italy has been the most generous region so far,
followed by Veneto, Emilia Romagna, Tuscany and Lazio.
