The non-religious funeral of
renowned writer and academic Umberto Eco will be broadcast live
by Italy's RAI public broadcaster, the Milan city council said
Monday.
The ceremony is to be held in the courtyard of Milan's
15th-century Sforza Castle on Tuesday, beginning at 15:00 local
time.
The press will have access to the courtyard from 13:30
while mourners will be allowed in starting at 14:30.
Eco, who shot to international fame three decades ago with
the Medieval monastery thriller The Name of the Rose, died on
Friday at the age of 84 after a battle with cancer.
