Rome Mayor Ignazio Marino on
Tuesday switched on Christmas lights in the city centre that
look forward to next year's Expo 2015 in Milan.
The lights in Via del Corso, one of the capital's main
shopping streets running between the central Piazza Venezia and
Piazza del Popolo to the north, consist in the flags of the 144
countries that have adhered to next year's Universal Exhibition
from May through October on the theme 'Feeding the planet,
energy for life'.
"With the choice of lights this year we wanted to look
forward to one of the most important events of 2015 that will
see Italy at the centre of international attention," Marino
said.
