The final will of Aurelia Sordi, sister of the late actor Alberto Sordi, was confirmed Thursday giving the entire estate to the foundation that is to manage a museum established in his name.
Aurelia Sordi, who died on October 12 at age 97, had inherited her brother's entire fortune which she passed on to the foundation in a will dated April 21, 2011 and officially confirmed after authorities received her death certificate.
The Alberto Sordi Museum will be located in the actor's historic villa in Rome and is to be run by a foundation formed on March 31, 2011, said notary Alfredo Maria Becchetti.
The foundation will receive the historic villa in Rome's Via Drusa as well as her savings and investments in a biomedical company. Alberto Sordi, an icon of Italian cinema, was famous for comedy and light drama.
Sordi, whose immortal comedies included The White Sheikh, I Vitelloni, An American In Rome, The Traffic Cop, La Grande Guerra, Il Conte Max, The Australian Girl and Il Marchese del Grillo, died shortly before his 83rd birthday in 2003.
He first made his name dubbing the voice of Oliver Hardy in Laurel and Hardy shorts and later appeared in more than 150 titles over a career that lasted six decades.
His funeral was attended by a crowd of more than a million people.
His sister Aurelia Sordi was in the headlines last month when prosecutors asked that 10 people be sent to trial for allegedly stealing more than 2.5 million euros from the elderly woman.
The accused included people hired to help the elderly woman including her butler, a former notary and two former lawyers that she employed.
