One of the finest examples of
the Abruzzo Renaissance school of sculpture was recovered in a
Venice antiques shop Tuesday after being stolen from a Marche
church 30 years ago.
The wooden 15th-century Madonna delle Grazie (Madonna of the
Graces) disappeared from a small church in the hilltop town of
Visso in October 1984.
Police have placed the shop owner under investigation for
receiving stolen goods.
