A foreign motorist was stopped by
police Sunday night after making a U-turn on Italy's main
north-south A motorway near VIterbo north of Rome.
The man has been charged with endangering other drivers.
His driving license was confiscated, he was fined 8,000 euros
and his car sequestered for three months.
The man reportedly told police that he did the U-turn because
his navigator told him to.
It reportedly told him to turn around as soon as possible.
The man was heading for the Italian capital when he made the
dangerous manoeuvre.
He was captured on surveillance cameras.
"In the face of these images there are no words to express the
contempt of all those who, because of such absurd conduct, are
still grieving for the loss of their loved ones," said traffic
police commander Paolo Maria Pomponio.
