An orange heat alert, the second
highest level, was issued Friday for Turin, Perugia, Florence
and Brescia as Italy continues to bake in an unseasonably hot
heat wave.
Officials said the sticky 'afa' heat would make vulnerable
categories like the elderly, the chronically ill, children and
pregnant women have to take special care an stay indoors as much
as possible.
On Saturday only Turin will be on orange alert, while the
Piedmont capital will be the only Italian city on red alert on
Sunday.
Italy's heat wave, with highs in the low 40s, is due to the
return of the African anti-cyclone Scipio.
