(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 15 - Italian beach clubs will have to
grant free access to the shoreline for all-comers and not just
their customers, according to draft legislation before cabinet
Tuesday.
In theory bathing establishments in Italy are already required
to do so, but in practice there is widespread flouting of the
rule.
Consumer and citizens groups have long complained about beach
clubs eating up more and more of Italy's shorelines.
The new legislation will also cap the prices of beach umbrellas
and sun loungers. (ANSA).
