A firm working on a UNESCO project
in Naples has pulled out after threats from the local mafia, the
Camorra, Il Mattino newspaper reported Thursday.
The firm was working on the 'restyling' of the iconic Porta
Capuana in the heart of Naples.
It said it had been subjected to two straight days of threats
from a protection racket.
Local merchants and residents protested saying "the State has
surrendered and waved the white flag".
Naples city council said the building site at the city
landmark would reopen on Monday.
