The transport ministry on Monday
denied reports it had approved the reopening of three escalators
that have forced the closure of Rome metro stops Spagna,
Barberini and Repubblica.
In a statement, the ministry said its infrastructure office
had not granted permission to Rome transport company ATAC to
reopen the escalators.
It urged ATAC to send necessary documentation on the plants.
