The Reggio Calabria
health board was dissolved for 'Ndrangheta infiltration on
Wednesday.
The provincial health authority was dissolved by the Italian
cabinet and the management entrusted to an extraordinary
commission.
The decision was taken at the request of Reggio Calabria
Prefect Michele di Bari who based it on the findings of a recent
report into the Calabrian mafia's infiltration of the health
panel.
Health Minister Giulia Grillo said the move showed the
government "is not giving an inch on health in Calabria".
She said "the dissolving of the local health agency confirms
the picture I recently painted...we are determined to radically
change healthcare in Calabria.
