Rome prosecutors said Friday
they would request the shelving of a probe into human bones
found at the Vatican's nunciature to Italy, a discovery that had
briefly raised hopes of solving the disappearance of two
15-year-old girls in Rome in 1983.
The latest tests have confirmed that the bones belong to a
man, who probably died of natural causes, who lived some time
between 90 BC and 230 AD, the prosecutors said.
The investigation has therefore ruled out any link to the
disappearances of Emanuela Orlandi and Mirella Gregori.
