A Turin court on Friday
convicted 16 people of charges related to violent clashes
between police and protestors against the TAV Turin-Lyon
high-speed rail link on June 28, 2015 in the Susa Valley.
The court handed out jail terms adding up to 30 years, less
than half the 70 request be prosecutors.
There other defendants were acquitted.
The longest sentence given was three years, 10 months and 10
days.
Nicoletta Dosio, a 73-year-old retired Greek teacher and
long-standing 'No-TAV' activist, got eight months, 10 days.
