Over half of the Italian
holiday homes that finance police ran checks on over the summer
were rented out illegally, the force said on Friday.
It said it did 1,477 checks at properties rented in seaside
and mountain areas and cities between June and September.
It said 902 of these had some form or irregularity and, in
753 cases, the rental was not declared to the tax authorities.
The regions with the highest number of cases were Puglia,
Tuscany and Lazio.
