Italian police on Friday arrested
14 people on suspicion of exploiting migrant farm labour in
Calabria.
The suspects fraudulently got public funds to employ migrants
who were staying at reception centres, judicial sources said.
An investigation established that the migrants were taken
from two reception centres at Camigliatello Silano near Cosenza
to work picking potatoes and strawberries on the Sila plateau,
as well as being used as shepherds.
The refugees were mainly Senegalese, Nigerian and Somali,
police said.
