Rail passengers travelling
between Ancona and Fabriano in the central Marche region were
taken to hospital with suspected mild smoke poisoning on
Wednesday after the train's engine caught fire while it was in a
tunnel.
No-one suffered major injuries in the blaze.
The passengers' condition was said to be good and they were
expected to be released shortly.
The incident occurred just after 7:30 am local time when the
train was in the Passo Varano tunnel.
