Internal migration has decreased
in Italy with only 1.2 million Italians moving within the
country in 2015, down 2% on the previous year, statistics bureau
Istat said on Tuesday in its annual report on internal and
international migration.
Istat said the number of Italian migrants reported within the
country in 2015 was the lowest over the last 12 years.
Most Italian migrants - 76%, or 971,000 people - moved to
another city in the same region while the remaining 24%, 313,000
people, resettled to a different region.
The number of foreign migrants moving in Italy also decreased
last year - with only 202,000 resettling to another location,
almost 37,000 less than in 2014, Istat said.
