Two earthquakes on Wednesday
evening resulted in the collapse of several buildings in
Amatrice that had been left standing by the previous quake on
August 24.
In the part of the town that had been hit worst by the
previous quake, most of a red four-storey building that had been
the only one not to fall has now been leveled and what had been
left of the town council building sustained further damage.
The Amatrice town council said that inspections were still
underway in the town and surrounding area to assess the damage.
