House Speaker Laura Boldrini met
Monday with the governors of four regions whose mountain areas
were devastated by an August 24 earthquake.
"A time for listening to assess the needs of local
communities," Boldrini tweeted after meeting the heads of Lazio,
Marche, Umbria and Abruzzo.
"It was a highly useful meeting," Boldrini later told
reporters.
She also reiterated an invitation to the governors and the
people from the quake-stricken towns and villages to a Christmas
concert to be held at the Lower House on December 16.
"The chamber will fill with quake survivors," she said.
"Dedicating the concert to them is the right thing to do".
Boldrini first extended the invitation during a visit to
the village of Arquata del Tronto on September 24, one month
after the devastating tremor that claimed 298 lives, left 3,000
homeless, and caused billions in damage across the four regions.
