Italy on Monday deported a
32-year-old Tunisian national living near Siracusa in Sicily who
was known to French authorities as being very active in a
jihadist chat room and "clearly planning to reach the
Syrian-Iraqi theatre," Interior Minister Angelino Alfano said.
The man had been reported by French police after he got in
touch with a French national of Italian origin, Alfano said.
The minister said the man came to Italy in 2003 and "fed a
Facebook profile with posts and videos supporting the
self-proclaimed Islamic State".
Alfano said "careful investigative work established his
strong radical leanings".
