Fully one third of the city
employees of Milazzo in Sicily were clock-in cheats, police said
Monday.
Some 59 municipal workers have been cited for clocking in
fraudulently and then going about their business in the city
near Messina, police said.
Mayor Giovanni Formica said "we'll look at each case on its
merits but we'll be inflexible".
The case is the latest in a stream of false clock-in
scandals that has prompted the government to launch a clampdown,
making dismissals almost automatic and also mandating the
dismissal of superiors who do not take action.
